Public Services Maintenance Operator II (Full-Time)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants for the position should possess the following minimum qualifications at the time of application. Equivalent combinations of experience and training may be considered.
- A minimum of the High School Diploma, or its equivalent.
- Must possess a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License. Must possess a State of Michigan CDL B with a Tanker Endorsement.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of related public works/utilities, construction, landscaping, or forestry experience is required. Prior work in a municipal setting is preferred.
- Experience using a variety of tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are not required for the position but have been identified by the Village as being desirable to the department.
- State of Michigan Pesticide Applicator License or Water, Wastewater, or Stormwater certifications.
- Prior experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) data collection and software.
The work environment for this position includes working outdoors in extreme weather conditions & requires employees to have a strong emphasis on safety and demonstrate good judgement, initiative, and resourcefulness in carrying out the assigned duties.
WAGES & BENEFITS
This position offers competitive wages, starting at $22.12 per hour. The current pay range tops out at $28.26 after 5 years of service. The current pay structure includes regular, annual pay increases, including a 3.5% increase effective July 1, 2023. The Village also offers additional pay incentives based upon active certifications held by employees in the Department of Public Services.
