Director of Community Development & Code Enforcement

Towamencin Township, Montgomery County, a second-class township with a population of 19,000, is seeking a highly professional, results-oriented individual to serve as the Director of Community Development & Code Enforcement. The Director should possess strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, and is computer proficient. They must have comprehensive knowledge of local Pennsylvania planning, development, and land use policies, practices, and regulations. The Director is responsible for the enforcement of all Township Ordinances and state laws including but not limited to, building, zoning, and property maintenance. The Director is responsible for reviewing and processing all Subdivision and Land Development Plans, Conditional Uses, map and text amendments, variance and special exception applications. The Director is a professional supervisory position, who reports to the Township Manager, provides overall direction and supervision over all aspects of the department, and provides support to the Zoning Hearing Board and Planning Commission. The Director will represent the Township at public meetings and will manage staff of experienced professional inspection, building code, zoning, and construction officials. Also serves as Zoning Officer. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (engineering, public administration, or closely related field) with at least 8 years of relevant experience, including supervision, required. Position is full-time. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Annual salary range: $90k to $100k.
