Custodial Supervisor and Maintenance Technician
Daily and/or Weekly Responsibilities
- Work in tandem with the Director of Facilities for select building maintenance items.
- Oversee the cleaning of the building during the day, including the daily evaluation of the custodial service that is performed the night before. Communicate with the night crew about any issues and work to see that they are resolved.
- Respond to the needs of staff and emergencies that come about while working within the school. Given this is typically a fast-paced environment, the ability to work with others during the interruption of their daily tasks is very important.
- Clean restrooms throughout the day, making multiple rounds to spot clean, respond to accidents and restock soap and towels as necessary. Deep cleaning is done by the night crew.
- Collect recycling from the building and take to recycling dumpster.
- Inventory all cleaning supplies, paper products and anticipating when to order with help from Facilities.
- Upkeep and cleaning of the staff lounge including sink, countertops, refrigerators, etc. and keeping all products stocked such as coffee, tea, paper towels, etc.
- Empty outside waste bins at end of day and replace liners.
- Check multiple external doors at the end of the day to verify they are secured.
- School crossing guard duties are twice daily, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. This requires making sure all students and parents are safely escorted across an intersection. Friendly interaction with all families, attentive to your surroundings and an ability to be direct and be stern with all drivers. Must be able to stay outside in all weather conditions for 15 - 20 minutes at a time. Daily, punctual attendance is a high priority for this position.
Grounds work
- Sweeping and blowing walkways, play areas and entrances, pick up trash and litter on the grounds when seen.
- Using a backpack leaf blower to blow pea gravel to play spaces, ensuring safe play areas.
- Visual inspection should be performed daily.
- Other seasonal duties include helping spread salt or shoveling sidewalks during inclement weather. An external service is hired for significant snow/ice accumulation.
- Removing leaf debris from ground drains.
- Responding to emergencies as needed.
- Responsible for emptying trash bins and prep / cleanup for special events.
Other Responsibilities
- Help in setting up special events and breakdown of tables, chairs, etc.
- Removing waste from these events and moving trash bins as needed.
- Check and clean the theater before performances, spot clean afterward.
- Clean dining hall as needed.
- General cleaning as needed throughout the day.
- General summer cleaning of furniture and fixtures as well as summer maintenance projects.
Building Maintenance with Director of Facilities includes:
- Cleaning light globes throughout the building and changing lightbulbs. Must be able to stand on a ladder.
- Help in moving furniture and boxes.
- Other projects as needed with the Director of Facilities

Job Requirements
- Pass a fingerprint background check.
- Stand on their feet for extended periods.
- Lift up to 40-50 pounds.
- Walk and climb stairs multiple times a day.
- Ability to answer and respond to daily email requests.
