Experienced Journeyman Electrician
JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN
Job Description:
A Journeyman Electrician will work on commercial and industrial projects as well as large production style facilities such as Batch Plants, Dewatering Systems, Conveying, Milling/Crushing, Oxygen and Waste Water Plants where there are large amounts of motors and PLCs.

Job Duties:
Employees in this position are responsible for performing electrical repairs, installations, inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical lines, machinery and equipment more specifically described below:
- Perform electrical repairs to provide continuous operation of machinery and equipment.
- Make transformer connections, splice and terminate high voltage cables.
- Installation fiber optic cable.
- Understand PLC control logic and instrumentation interfaces and follow proper procedures for PLC loop checks and troubleshooting.
- Perform testing and calibration of instrumentation.
- Perform sub-station checks and maintenance.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting VFDs.
- Perform motor and circuit calculations.
- Troubleshoot and maintain generators.
- The ability to read and understand commercial building blue prints
- Knowledge of basic commercial wiring methods
- Ability to work with a general contractor and other trades present on job
- Advanced knowledge in the installation of conduit and MC style cabling systems
- Advanced knowledge in the installation of large commercial electrical services, tap cans and transformers
- Ability to work off a scissor lift, aerial lift and ladder
- Advanced knowledge of motors and motor starters
- Advanced knowledge of VFD’s used for motors
- Advanced knowledge in PLC Centers and PLC diagrams
- Advanced knowledge in troubleshooting
- Advanced knowledge in diagnostics
- Very good problem solving skills
- Knowledge in Generator installations
- Knowledge in Uninterrupted Power Supplies
- Lead and teach apprentices
- Comply with state and federal health and safety regulations, company policies and procedures and the company's environmental compliance policy
- And other duties as may be assigned.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear.
The employee is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is required to be in confined spaces and use a respirator at times. The employee is frequently required to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
