Maintenance Worker/Equipment Operator
The Collections Maintenance Worker/Equipment Operator performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and equipment related duties essential to operation of the Billings Regional Landfill. Duties require a variety of physical movements, lifting to 75 lbs., exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, dust, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, explosive materials, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, and the ability to travel to different sites and to perform shift work as needed. Compensation: Salary at hiring will be dependent upon the applicant’s experience (the salary range shown reflects steps 3 and 6 of a 7-step pay scale). Applicants starting as a Maintenance Worker typically advance to an Equipment Operator, step 2 at their 1-year anniversary. Step increases are awarded annually until the highest step is achieved, additional longevity pay is earned based on years of service and COLA increases are provided based on the negotiated Union contract each July. Exceptional benefits are provided including healthife insurance, retirement plan with generous employer contributions, sick leave, 10 paid holidays per year, 2 personal days per year and 3 weeks’ vacation leave per year. Vacation accruals begin immediately, increase with longevity and are available to use after 180 days of employment.
• Maintenance Worker: $20.86 - $24.14/hour
• Equipment Operatoraintenance Worker: $22.36 - $25.87/hour
Salary includes 3% COLA effective 7-1-2022
Schedule: 40-hour work week, standard work hours and days to be determined. Work schedules and assignments could vary based on operational needs.
